Description
figure, from a pair of the Wigmaker and Shoemaker. The Shoemaker, figure of a man fitting shoe on foot of woman. The figure group sits on a white rococo base with gilt decoration.
First modelled by Falconet at Sevres circa 1755-65, after a series of paintings by Boucher, circa 1745 of 'The Grand toilette" then made by Derby, circa 1775-1800, both in biscuit. then by Staffordshire, circa 1825. While these figures copy the original pair of the same subject, they lack the precise detailing and understanding of the topic found in the original pair
