Description
bureau bookcase in two stages, cross-banded and inlaid with double domed top, the cupboard enclosed with mirrored doors, the interior of the sloped front bureau fitted with pigeon holes, drawers a cupboard and a storage well below the sliding writing surface; the chest is mounted on square bracket feet, original brass mounts and drops. Originally would have had bun feet. Probably originally had candle slides, there being evidence of this below the mirrored door section. The mirror on such pieces of furniture was intended to reflect light from the candle.
