Description
figure group, woman and a cat, from a pair of modelled figures. The companion lady sits stroking a cat in her lap. mounted on mounded bases. enamelled in the light colour palette of pale yellow and pink indicative of the period, 1772-1795. The moulded trunk supports the figures during firing and assists in eliminating slumping during the firing and the holes in the base control the air pressure to facilitate a perfect figure from the kiln.
The Derby pair is copied from a Meissen original by JJ Kandler of circa 1755.
