Description
figure, pair, musician and dancer. Figure of a male musician or minstrel standing beneath the boughs of a tree which form an arch above his head. He strums a guitar or lute which he holds in an upright position to his left. He stands casually against the tree with his right leg hooked behind his left. He wears a form of turban with a white tunic embellished with gold foliate decoration, a white shirt, pink breeches and an orange sash at his waist. The tree and ground painted brown and applied with shredded clay foliage; the body of the guitar painted red-brown. Gold line across the front of the oval base. The reverse undecorated. Small punched hole in base and at top of tree. figure of a female dancer posed beneath the boughs of a tree which form an arch above her head. Her left hand is on her hip, her right above her head. The bottom of her dress features a border of overlapping double crosses and waved yellow stripes, the skirt and sleeves embellished with gold foliate decoration. The tree is painted brown over a yellow ground and is applied with shredded clay, brown hair, black shoes and black dots on bodice to shoulders. Gold line across the front of the oval base.
