Full green cloth, ruled borders and flower illustration in gilt and black with title in gilt on the front board, gilt lettering and flower illustrations in gilt and black on the spine, publisher's device inside black ruled border surrounded by flower illustration on the rear board, bevelled boards, slate grey endpapers, with a chromolithographic frontispiece featuring different kinds of flowers, all with tissue guards, black-and-white wood engravings of various plants throughout each volume; octavo size (9" by 6.75") pagination: Volume I: [i-iv] [1] 2-380 [381-390]
