Description
label, decanter, port (medium), escutcheon-style wine label made popular by the
well-known London silversmith Sandylands Drinkwater in the 1740-50s. The escutcheon (or shield) shape was vaguely oval or rectangular in outline but with the edges fretted into a series of ogee curves. The pattern of vine leaves, grapes and tendrils the edge outlined by a thin line of reeding.
