Object Detail


Description
coffee cup, of "London" shape, features a broad, continuous band of flowers around the upper two thirds of both the inside and outside, bordered top and bottom of gilt band. A similar band decorates the foot rim.
The white ground behind the flower panel is stippled with gold dots. This particular shape of cup (and handle) was introduced at Spode about 1813. 1810-11. First period of Minton. In the first seventeen years bone china was produced the number got to 1000.
Dated by its shape, pattern inspiration and maker's mark.
